Sorry Situations

It is common for us who are involved in automobile accidents to feel sorry for the accident happen. We would be less than human if we do not feel sorry for those who are injured in an accident.

However, drivers who are involved in accidents should never say they are sorry. This is often times taken as an admission of fault. Drivers should also not state that the accident was their fault. This is due, in part, to the fact that accidents are oftentimes the result of complex situations and the real fault of the accident cannot be adequately determined until a proper investigation is completed and all the facts are in. The parties to an accident certainly should not become involved in debates with the other driver(s) or passengers involved in the accident who yell about "the other guy" causing the accident.

Instead, a driver should simply show his or her driver's license, registration, and insurance card, and ask for the same from the other driver(s). After recording this information, the driver should record the make, model, year, plate number, and vehicle identification number of the other car(s). The police should be called in to file an accident report that contains essential information about vehicle position, weather, and road conditions, etc., regardless of how large or small the damages may appear.

When an accident happens, the best thing to do is make sure that anyone injured is taken care of first. After that, cool heads generally will carry the day in making sure that the investigation is properly completed and the claims are properly processed with the necessary insurance companies.
